Yes, and this makes Breed-specific Legislation (BSL) a nightmare for most owners. BSL regulates and/or bans specific dog breeds to lessen dog attacks. However, dog owners and animal advocates find this law highly discriminatory. They argue that every dog has the propensity to bite, regardless of breed. In fact, there is no evidence that BSL help makes owners and their community safe from dog attacks.

The most common type of dogs deemed to be dangerous is “pitbull-type” breed, known for their protective and aggressive nature. However, “wolf-type” breeds are also part of the list.

A dog’s aggressiveness also depends on the relationship it has with its owner. If it’s been bred for fighting, combat, and aggression, the dog’s propensity to become dangerous heightens.

Owner of dogs that are on the dangerous dog breeds list also has difficulty obtaining homeowner’s insurance, making the process of protecting their dog’s interest a challenge.

It’s also important to note that owning a dog that isn’t on the list doesn’t guarantee zero biting or aggression.
