Just like other cases of personal injury claims, a slip and fall accident requires some documents that must be prepared so a person will be more likely to win a claim. An attorney will most likely look for these documents during your initial consultation. These include the following:
Official Reports – Police report – A victim should report his or her accident to the property owner or manager and ask them to make a written report of the accident, and take a copy.
Medical Reports – Information on any medical care received including treatments, therapy, hospital stays, nursing home stays, and surgeries. These may include records on the initial examination and any specialist reports. Other records included are X-rays, prescribed medication, and consultations.
Statements and notes – Your note of the incident, the date, the conditions you recall that contributed to the accident. You may include information on possible witnesses and their statements.
Photos, videos, or audio taken of the scene – Photographic evidence taken of the scene that shows the hazard or dangerous conditions that caused your accident.
Other evidence – Clothing worn during the accident and other damaged items.
Insurance – Your insurance card. If you have it, the insurance information of the other party. Any written or recorded communication from insurance companies.
Wages lost – Include notes on how many days of work were lost due to the accident and due to the following treatments and procedures required to recover from the accident.
